Döner in Arnhem
Fancy a döner sandwich or a dürüm in Arnhem? At Bist on the Hoogstraat, you can have chicken or veal döner from our own kitchen. Our meat is halal.

What is döner?
Döner is a classic of Turkish cuisine. The name comes from the Turkish verb dönmek, 'to turn': layers of seasoned meat are stacked on a vertical spit that turns slowly in front of the heat, and thin slices are carved from the outside as it roasts.
In the Netherlands, döner is usually eaten in bread with salad and sauce, as a dürüm (Turkish for 'roll': thin flatbread wrapped around the filling) or from a box. It is a close relative of shawarma and gyros, which are also roasted on a turning spit.
